After a thorough tender process LITE were appointed to supply Charnwood Borough Council with a complete new scheme of Christmas and festive lights for Loughborough town centre. The scheme was developed by our “in house” designers and is based on the theme of bells. This was created to reflect the long history Loughborough has of being home to one of the largest working bell foundries, producing some of the finest bells in the world. The Giant three dimensional bells were manufactured in aluminium and each bell consisted of 16 individual pieces, built to fit around the existing large columns in the Market Place. They were decorated with thousands of mini LEDs, each bell was 4m high and took six hours to install. The large width of the Market Place presented its own challenges, so LITE designed huge spans of lights again with the bell theme, but also incorporating large draped light curtains to match ceilings of light introduced in some of the narrower streets in the surrounding areas.
